Down by the waters of the wide Missouri,
back behind the dirt of the Boyer Levee
We're dirt poor Irish, Cherokee mixed in
Shirt tail cousins and your long lost kin
Mama said we were Black Irish now and again
Welcome to the family its your long lost kin
Who's that knockin', should we let em in ?
It's your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin
Who's that knockin', should we let em in ?
It's your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin
your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin...
My mixed blood family in a Cherokee town
felt better off not hanging around
They took the Cumberland Gap down through Tennessee
They settled down in the Cain-tuck-kee
They were white and Indian, some other things mixed in
Welcome to the family it's your lost kin
Who's that knockin', should we let em in ?
It's your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin
Who's that knockin', should we let em in ?
It's your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin
your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin...
My third great grandfather Joseph Robidoux,
went to the Missouri and the fur trade routes
He got a little tired of old St. Lou,
so he Built St. Joseph and he sold it to you
his kids were French and Indian, some other things mixed in
Welcome to the family it's your lost kin
Who's that knockin', should we let em in ?
It's your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin
Who's that knockin', should we let em in ?
It's your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin
your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin...
Down through the waters and the rivers of time
people always tried to deny our kind
they said they're Irish, French and Indian, some other things mixed in
they're shirt tail cousins but they're sure not our kin...
Well I got somethin' to say to you,
Look in the mirror we might be lookin' back at you!
Who's that knockin', should we let em in ?
It's your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin
Who's that knockin', should we let em in ?
It's your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin
your shirt tail cousins it's your long lost kin...
