Love Overdrive

"For some reason I can picture Phil Collins singing "Love Overdrive."  can't put my finger on exactly why this is, but the resemblance is almost uncanny! "  Wil Owen, Rambles.net - A Cultural Arts Magazine

All of us, whether actually or in our mind's eye, have driven the midnight highways trying to regain lost love. The frantic thought that "certain words would've never been spoken" underscore the desperation and overwhelming desire to make things whole again. Given the incredible pressures of living in our culture with all its demands, conflicts and the endless drum beat of youth, beauty and the gratification of desire it's a  miracle that any one can hold their relationship together. For the sake of love I hope that the endless high ways ultimately lead to the dreamtime for all of us. Thanks to Alfred Noyes for the term 'ribbon of moonlight" from the "the Highwayman."

Love Overdrive

I've been thinkin' about you baby & I've been drivin' all night long,

I've been out on the high, wide & lonesome, Now I'm almost empty and its almost dawn,

I've been following this ribbon of moon light, I've been following this distant star,

just ahead I can see the sunrise comin' up like an equinox of the heart

Chorus

Gotta stay awake & alive, keep running on love overdrive,

Gotta stay awake & alive, keep the motor runnin' on love over-drive

keep the motor runnin' on love over-drive

There's a star field grid out on the horizon, marks the course to where you are,

Cassiopeia,Andromeda rising tells me that you can't be very far,

I wish this car was a space /time capsule, could take us back to where we were,

certain words would've never been spoken baby you & I could both be here

Chorus

Way out here they call it the big empty, they gotta lot of time & space,

they gotta lot of time for reflection, about what happened in the first place,

You & I could both be drivin' down this highway  to somewhere else

find a place up in the high country maybe take a little time to find ourselves

Maybe you & I could stay up there forever, living with the eagle and the pine,

never have to come back down for nothin' live our lives in the dreamtime,

live our lives in the dreamtime

Chorus
