"The CD starts off in an Arthurian way with "Lady of the Lake" -- I'm sure that those of you familiar with

Avalon will enjoy it as much as I do."  - Wil Owen, Rambles.net - A Cultural Arts Magazine

"This is a great marvel," said the King, "What may it mean?" And Merlin made answer: "Deep is this mere, so deep indeed that no man may fathom it: But in its depths, built upon the roots of the mountain, is the palace of the Lady of The Lake.. Powerful is she with a power that works ever for good, and she shall help thee in thy hour of need. For thee has she wrought yonder sword. Go now take it."  - King Arthur & The Round Table, Beatrice Clay

The Lady of the Lake in the Arthurian Epic was a spirit of the water, a true pagan Goddess. It was she who provided Arthur with Exalibur in several tellings of the tale and she to whom the sword was flung by Sir Bedivere at Arthur's death. It was said that Sir Lancelot Du Lac was so named because he was raised by her and taught many wonders. It is with  this in mind, the idea of a young acolyte seeking wisdom in a monastic sense, that this song was written.

It is also true that I think of my wife as my own Lady of the Lake, since I used to cross Lake Washington to see her when we were first courting....

Lady of the Lake

I've been on a quest, a knight without steel, I've done my best to find the grail of what is real

I have stood in stone temples, groves of sacred trees, knelt down at altars, prayed on my knees

and nothing touched me, nothing gave me peace

till I found the lady of the lake, till I found the lady of the lake

Chorus

I have longed for beauty, its touch on my face, I have longed for an angel, Wings of saving grace,

you are my angel, my Lady of the Lake, my Lady of the Lake

Timeless Avalon waits on the distant shore,There's a doorwy in the water

that can take me there for sure, I am nothing but a pilgrim from a far and distant place,

I have crossed over mountains to look upon the face of the Lady,

The Lady of the Lake, the Lady of the Lake

I have come home to a green and mystic Isle and all I've known has faded like a distant smile,

Now I walk beside fountains on golden moonlit nights, I looked for truths and I found them in windows of light,

I see the Lady, the Lady Of the Lake, the Lady Of the lake
